Yousif was born and raised in the United Arab Emirates. He moved to Montreal to gain a Bachelor of Engineering in Bioengineering at McGill University. The intersection of biology with engineering and computation drives Yousif to find solutions to medical problems such as neurological diseases and cancer. This led him to join the Bowie lab where he worked on the imaging and quantitative analysis of blood vessels in mice models of fragile-x syndrome. Currently, Yousif is investigating NMDA Receptors as part of his research project. Outside of the lab, Yousif enjoys snowboarding, soccer, cooking, and reading.
