My name is Gabriele and I am a third-year undergraduate student in Pharmacology at McGill. I was born in raised in Montreal and earned my DEC in science at Dawson College before applying to McGill University. I always had an interest in Neuroscience related topics and I had become interested in understanding glutamate receptors through my classes at McGill. Working part-time at the Montreal Neurological Hospital also exposed me to different neurological disorders/cases as well as treatments and research that go into patient care. I had met Dr. Bowie after one of my classes, and we briefly discussed his interests and areas of research. Immediately, I was drawn to him and his research and decided that I would like to learn more about glutamate receptors and lab related skills with him. Now I am working in his lab, focusing on the mutations in AMPA receptors and how they play a role in children with learning disabilities.
Outside of school, I enjoy many hobbies. I love playing guitar, as well as cooking. I also love playing soccer in the summer, skiing in the winter, and the gym all year round. Lastly, I cannot forget how much I love spending time with friends and family.
